Many abandoned bank distress properties are what as known as distressed properties. These are properties that are run down, need rebuilding or just left abandoned. The bank will handle sale of such properties as it sees fit. It may even let a real estate agent take the property and sell it, providing that there is no default on the mortgage. There are so many reasons why bank distress properties are a lot more common than one might think. If no one is living in a house for example or died, then the house will not be taken care of. Eventually the bank will take over and sell the property to the highest bidder. This is never an easy process but when there is no one to take care of the property, then it comes into the hands of the bank and then is sold at auction more especially if the building had a tax lien or other type of lien on the property, Believe it or not, some do have liens on them for back taxes and the like.

All banks offer these distressed properties at auction. Sometimes it is first come, first served. Bank distress properties are everywhere that you go. Other times it will be by auction only. A lot of these wonderful old buildings don’t get the respect and treatment that they deserve. But in the hands of a skilled worker, a distressed property will come back into its former glory and shine once again. So, all is not lost when attending an auction of this type. Attend an auction of a banks distressed property and take a good look at what is offered. It is said that one mans trash is another’s treasure. This is very true. The bargains that you can find are considerable as you look about the properties that are offered for sale by the bank.
