Foreclosure Problems At Aurora

January 7th, 2008

Many of the evacuated houses at Aurora are still bearing the notices that are long past their due dates. These houses and properties from sale are suffering from lack of appropriate maintenance. Here and there you will come across buildings that need serious revamping from their dilapidated state.

A city code had long been maintained on the rush for Pre-Christmas clean-up. Most notices having fallen to deaf years it is now up to the city authorities to see into the matter. The plummeting prices in foreclosure makes it evident that real change needs to be made to refurbish the Aurora neighborhood. Of particular concern are the areas near the metro. Broken garage doors, loosely hanging building parts, dumped outdoor trash and weeds —- all make for an unsightly view in the city.

The pre-Christmas rush in clean-up now looks forward to raise the sales’ levels and the competition market faced from the neighboring cities of Aurora. Not only Aurora, cities like Denver, Northglenn and Commerce City too face the same situation currently. From lack of strict property maintenance routine these places now have to be under strict clean-up project.

The data gathered from Your Castle Real Estate state that the areas like Del Mar have got the hardest dealings from foreclosures. Throughout the month of September out of the 100 houses sold, 82 got foreclosed or short-sold. That is to say, they got sold in much lesser price than actually intended.

This year saw Aurora making deals of 3,387 foreclosures at the first half. But presently the city is way too saddled down with their revamping expenditures. Though it is spending some hundreds of thousands for the cleaning-up project, the lenders of newly bought properties are not willing to pay. In fact the payment of the notices on the properties owned by the previous owners cannot be actualized from the new owners. This crux in the problem proves to be a stumble. The people are either paying the renovation taxes directly o through their property ownership taxes. In any case, the mayor, Ed Tauer wishes all and sundry to come forward to make the city beautiful. Whether you are a mortgage loaner or a homeowner you are expected to pay the taxes either way.

The costly clean-ups in November got used with the execution of a contract 2,115 times in order to remove the garbage and useless building materials and parts. This work of abatement has been estimated to be almost triple the number done in 2004 and 770 more than 2006. Nancy Sheffield, director of neighborhood services of the city state that the total expenditure to revamp the overall area has been $428,365 this year. This is actually $130,000 more than last year.

This does not yet show long-term solution for the problems faced in the downhill slope of foreclosed properties in Aurora. With time a greater investment in the maintenance of the city will be able to ensure that.
