Till date lenders have modified approx 235,000 mortgages during the administration of Obama. Despite this, till date, the first few months of 2009 witnessed 1.8 million foreclosures. Due to the rising rate of unemployment, more homeowners are rendered jobless and that is impeding their attempts of loan repayments.

The Federal programs aiming at modification of loan structures to cut down on the foreclosures has not gained much success.

The $75 billion program by the Obama government intending to cut down on foreclosures for sale has suffered major setbacks. A major chunk of homeowners complained about certain inaccuracies in the information by the lenders and many more commented that they did not receive any help.
