Lake Elsinore Foreclosure Task Force Meets To Combat Foreclosures

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Mary Venerable, the Vice President of the Southwest Riverside County NAACP, has made tireless efforts to arrange a workshop for those who want a solution to house foreclosures. The problem has greatly moved her and she is highly proactive to help the people in combating this problem of foreclosures. She has always believed that the biggest solution to foreclosures and real estate can be had random questioning. Her niece faced the same problem and was at a loss of what to do. She did not know of whom to speak to about it, and before she could take any steps to prevent it, she lost her home.

Venerable participated in a foreclosure task force meeting sponsored by California state that was held in the month of February in Riverside. There she came to know about a lady who also underwent the same problem that was faced by her niece. But in her case, she was able to come out of the problem of foreclosures. After attending this meeting, she thought this is one of the best ways to search for a solution to the problem. She saw that the south-western county area was highly vulnerable to foreclosures that posed a real problem to the real estate sector.

Venerable in a bid to save the people from foreclosures, got in touch with the state officials for arranging a task force meeting in the south-western area. She did not get any positive response from them for they said that there were not enough of funds to arrange for such a huge meeting. Her ideas were however welcomed by the NAACP and Lake Elsinore officials. Even Riverside County Assessor Larry Ward and Supervisor Bob Buster encouraged her move. Venerable also got in touch with a number of people belonging to the real estate and other speakers before the actual date of workshop.

Venerable said, “We have too many people around here in Southwest County who are like that who don’t know there is a way out. I just felt if there was something I could do to help them find the answers, I should do it. The bottom line is to keep people from losing their homes”.

A large number of homeowners from south-western Riverside County, Hemet, and Corona attended the meeting at the Lake Elsinore Cultural Center. Besides, there were real estate agents, real estate attorneys, and financial counselors to answer the people. It was possible all due to Venerable’s untiring efforts.

Massachusetts House Foreclosures - Short-term Discontinuation

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Massachusetts owns the credit of being the most densely populated one among the six New England states of north-eastern Unites States. It has provided a major boost to the real estate industry of this place. But the problem of house foreclosures is a big enemy of the Massachusetts real estate.

As per the reports of one of the well-known provider of data on Massachusetts house foreclosures named ForeclosuresMass.com, there will be a temporary discontinuation on all the foreclosures that were in effect from May 1 till July end. There has been a drop in house foreclosure by about 88.52 percent. The basic reason behind this sudden short term discontinuation is a mandated extension after which a matter of foreclosure can be taken to the Land Court.

According to the co-founder of ForeclosuresMass.com, Sheila Farragher-Gemma:

“We are in the midst of a Foreclosure Tsunami here in Massachusetts, and this storm is not going away any time soon. The new foreclosure filing requirements have created a situation similar to the eye of a hurricane — it may seem calm now, but the storm will come raging back with even more force in the days ahead. The fact is that nothing has changed in the Massachusetts real estate market. More homeowners than ever before are defaulting on their loans, and we expect that we will return to historic foreclosure filing levels within weeks.”

An act of Chapter 206 was signed by the Governor of Massachuetts on November 29, 2007 known as the ‘An Act Protecting and Preserving Home Ownership’. It includes a 90-Day ‘Right To Cure’ provision for families having 1 to 4 members who have defaulted on paying mortgage loans on owner-occupied residential property. Before the Governor signed it, it was a 30 days affair after which the foreclosures matter can be taken to the Land Court. The additional 60 days brought a great relief to the defaulters. One of the best ways to get rid of this hard situation is taking the assistance of professionals proficient in providing you with all kinds of solutions. To develop the real estate sector of Massachusetts, the problem of house foreclosures needs to be controlled as soon as possible.

Some important things that have been noticed are:

  • There were 3,414 filings in April 2008
  • There were 392 filings in May 2008
  • A total of 32,018 foreclosures state-wide has been filed by the lenders from June 1, 2007 to May 31, 2008

Loan Counselors: Help to Avoid House Foreclosures

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Are you a defaulter of home loan or unable to pay the money that you have invested in the real estate? Well, in today’s world it has been markedly seen that there are a large number of veterans in US who take home loans and ultimately fail to repay the same when required. This leads to seizure of their homes by the banks, which is finally sold on a high bid. This is termed as foreclosed homes. Do you fall in that category? Thinking of what to do? The loan counselors can help you in this regard. They belong to the Department of Veterans Affairs, USA. With their help, many have been able to come out of this tough situation.

The loan counselors of the Department of Veterans Affairs provide advice and also assist the defaulter by making arrangement for finance. In this way, they aid the people with VA-guaranteed loans to keep away from house foreclosures. This has led to the heavy reduction in the number of defaulting people. There are loan counselors at about nine regional loan centers proving an excellent service related to this particular issue. The Department of Veterans Affairs can also work as an arbitrator on the behalf of the borrower in certain matters like forbearance, loan modifications, as well as repayment plans to help the veteran in keeping back their home prior to the veteran’s situation.

As per a report, since the year 2000, the loan counselors of the Department of Veterans Affairs have provided their guidance to approximately 74,000 veterans and active-duty service members in avoiding house foreclosures. These counselors also provide service to those veterans having finance related problems say in case of real estate or something else involving heavy finance. The credit of helping decrease these veteran home foreclosures undoubtedly goes to the loan counselors as well as the excellent loan servicing program of the Department of Veterans Affairs. As per the data, there has been a 50 percent cut down in the house foreclosures than what it was 5 years ago.

The Department of Veterans Affairs’ home loan guaranty program has made it easier for the veterans and also the active-duty members to take loans for various real estate related matters. It has been seen that a VA-backed home loan of over 90 percent has been provided without any down payment. If you want to get in touch with a loan counselor, then call at (877) 827-3702.
