October 8th, 2008

Wisconsin has been granted a fund of $39 million by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. The real estate of this place is suffering from the problem of home foreclosures and to help the homeowners come out of the situation, this fund has been granted to them by HUD. Gov. Jim Doyle has declared about this fund on September 30 for the redevelopment of the properties that have been foreclosed. This fund will help in bringing some stabilization in the neighborhood. It is also expected that the decreasing value of homes in the surrounding areas is going to gradually come down. This fund is a part of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program of HUD.

The distressed homeowners are surely going to get some kind of relief as soon as the fund will be handed over to Wisconsin. The problem of home foreclosures has left several people completely bewildered. The problem has a very bad effect on not only the economy of that particular place but also on the surrounding areas. Doyle has said, “Foreclosures have a devastating impact on neighborhoods and the state’s economy and we must do all we can to not only prevent foreclosures but also help rehabilitate impacted neighborhoods. These Neighborhood Stabilization funds will allow us to take our statewide foreclosure efforts to an even higher level.”

The fund has to be properly used so that the people will be able to fight with these devastating effects of foreclosure. People should be made aware of the various bad consequences that foreclosures have. A mass awareness program is very much essential. This grant from US Department of Housing and Urban Development can be used to buy property and land. Besides, it can also be used to rehabilitate the vacant properties of Wisconsin. People with low or moderate income can make use of the fund to make their down payments and also meet the closing costs of their properties.

The real estate of Wisconsin is suffering heavily due to foreclosures. The fall in price are proving beneficial for the first time buyers who could now purchase homes at a price that is much below the market value. In order to get away with the problem of foreclosures, people have to be more conscious in Wisconsin. Apart from Wisconsin, HUD has also granted funds to various other local governments and communities of other states that have been heavily hit by foreclosure.
