The term distress means anything from an old building with the roof falling in, to a dilapidated old country store. Distress can mean anything in regards to any property. This can also mean farms that are no longer being used and left to go to fallow. This term usually means that the property has not been taken are of and is basically left in ruins or crumbling on the ground. These are properties that are not in good shape at all and would take a lot of major repair work to get them back to their former state and condition. This is a basic definition. The neglect on these buildings, houses, farms or commercial property is disgusting and can be a real eyesore for the community that has to look at that property every day. Distress condition real estate is always around, no matter where you would be looking. That is why you will hear a lot of locals voicing their opinion that these properties should be torn down and something new built in its place. But those folks who have an eye on the profit can easily persuade the dissenting voices. Distress can also be good for those wanting to fix up the property with an eye to use it or make use of it after it is fixed. This takes a lot of time and trouble, but it is always worth the risk, especially if you are going to sell it for profit. Most others would just as soon have the offending property torn down and remade into something different and useful. Either way the property is taken care of, no matter what the situation or case may be. Even if it is something historical, people tend to forget that once we lose a piece of our history, that it is gone forever. With the amount of old buildings that are out there at any given place in the world, there is bound to be someone that wants that property for either resale or refit. This also holds true for any other building, whether or not it is a business, a farm or an old house that is distressed. Distress is unfortunately a part of our lives and landscape in this day and age. This cannot be avoided in any way. This depends entirely on the property and where the property is located. It also depends on the age of the property, the condition and the location. Distress can be profitable or it can be a financial ruin. Some distress property is torn down because it is too far gone to save. This is indeed sad, but with so many in the economic straits that people sometimes find themselves in, leaves them with no choice but to destroy the property and turn it over to be used as something different. The lucky few though can find someone to buy the property and fix it up instead of seeing it destroyed and the land remain bare.
