Veteran’s Administration dwellings are homes that are mortgaged and or rented out by the Veterans Administration, an arm of the U.S. Military. This ranges from apartments and barracks to duplexes and one to two family homes, either off base or on base. There are a lot of factors that decide exactly where you will stay in VA Homes. These include marital status, availability of off base housing, whether or not you are in training or actually on a mission. All these factors will decide where and when you will get your housing voucher from the VA. They are the final say in that arena.

You put in a request for either off base or on base housing. VA Homes as stated before can be apartments, houses, barracks and the like. This process takes time and patience. As someone I once knew said “You hurry up and you wait!” This is the way of the military. Always has been, and it will always be this way. After you are approved, you are told where your residence will be and whether or not it is on base or not. This is following the chain of command. This is the way that the VA works.

The VA has the final say about homes in reference to the military. VA Homes are administered by the VA and its rules and regulation. Usually the VA is fair in dealing with both on and off base housing. Sometimes it isn’t but the majority of the time it deals fairly with all our armed service personnel. The choices include apartment, barracks, duplex, one family house, two family houses. To this date, the VA has cleared the way for a good many of our servicemen and women to get housing.

VA Homes are entirely regulated by the VA and all mortgages, rent and such is also regulated by the VA and the U.S. military. Each year, the VA gets requests from not only our current members in uniform, but from retired servicemen and women too for housing.

Each request is approved by the VA and vouchers are given depending on where the housing is to be, whether on base or off base. The VA also has other assistance programs in order to help our armed forces have one less worry when they are sent off to combat. This is one less worry and one less fear that our soldiers have to face. They can trust the VA to keep its word in regards to housing for them and their families. This is a big boon at a time when our armed forces need to concentrate on what their jobs are and not worrying about whether the kids will have a roof over their head when they come home.
